How to Setup a New Project on JIRA

 

Following are the few steps to create a new project in Jira.

Step 1

Click on Create a new project.

Step 2

Select project template, Software Development, and select Scrum.

 

Step 3

Click on Use template in blue color at the bottom.

Step 4

Select Team Managed Project.

Step 5

Enter the project’s name, Key will be generated automatically. Choose the level of Access. (as Private)

 

Step 6 - Access

Go to Project settings and click on Access.

Click on Add People to add the members or groups to the project.

 

Add Ali Aziz (Shopdev) with admin access so that we will be able to fetch the daily update of this particular project from Jira.

Add Jira-software-user group with Viewer access so that everyone in the organization can access the project and add site-admins as Members.

Step7 - Add external user

  • If you want to add the external user (client) to this project then send the email ID to the Jira Admin Tauseef Rehman, Waleed Malik, or @Ammar Ahmed Butt (Deactivated) .

  • Admin will create a separate group and add the member to this group.

  • After creating the group we can add it to this project so that the external user can access only this project

Step8 - Add Fields

  • Open project settings.

  • Open Issue type.

  • After giving access to users you can add time tracking, Due date, Start date in Story/Bug/Task/Epic from here.

  • Adding Paragraph Field and name it “Acceptance Criteria” is compulsory for All the Projects.

 

Step8 - Work Flows

  • Create WorkFlow (compulsory for all Projects)

  • Open Project Setting>Issue types>Edit workflow

Step 9 - JIRA Scrum-Board

  • Open Project Settings>Boards.

  • Assign multiple statuses to a single column so your team can move work to different statuses within the one board column.
